Restoring Balance and Diversity

Tree Planting Scheme

If you have land, we will plant trees! You just have to fence your land. Trees are funded by voucher sales and donations

Landowners

The basis of our collaboration is a landowner’s genuine wish to set aside some portion of their land for native trees and habitat on a non-commercial, long-term basis.

What we've done so far

We have planted 6000+ native trees around Ireland creating a number of modest woodlands on lands that the owners wish to set aside for native trees and habitat

Tree Vouchers

Treeplanting projects are funded mainly through the sale of tree vouchers. We set the cost of one tree voucher at €5 - average cost of planting and protecting one bareroot sapling

Get Growing

What is Get Growing?

Our Get Growing course provides the basic, practical knowledge of how to start growing organic vegetables from scratch, in whatever space is available to you. The course is designed with beginners in mind, teaching you how to sow and grow, to care for, feed and protect your vegetable plants in harmony with Nature. And then you have a rewarding crop of fresh, healthy food all year round!

Mission

We in GreenFriends Ireland are inspired by a great love and gratitude for the natural, living beauty of Ireland. Our deep wish is to see the balance and diversity of our natural world restored and protected.

We act to help protect the precious balance of life on our planet through community-based initiatives aiming to awaken the understanding that nature and humanity are inextricably linked, to cultivate our love of nature, and to offer real, practical opportunities for us to live in greater harmony with nature.

Since 2016 we have planted over 6000 trees creating 6 different nature reserves.

Volunteering

Join our volunteer groups

GreenFriends Ireland is organised and run 100% by volunteers. Action to help restore the lost balance of nature is ever more important, while also being really satisfying, worthwhile, fulfilling and fun! There’s something very special, very hopeful, about meeting fellow volunteers who give their time and energy working together for nature. We invite you to join our growing, vibrant, committed team. No prior knowledge of planting/growing is required. We give training where necessary and we all learn from each other in so many way as we go along.
