Get Growing

Our Get Growing course provides the basic, practical knowledge of how to start growing organic vegetables from scratch, in whatever space is available to you. The course is designed with beginners in mind, teaching you how to sow and grow, to care for, feed and protect your vegetable plants in harmony with Nature. And then you have a rewarding crop of fresh, healthy food all year round!

We published a manual to accompany the Get Growing course in 2012 and we are delighted that it has since been translated into several languages and adapted for other climates.

We run the course free of charge for community and other interested groups. Our intention is to promote and support organic food growing in any way we can right across Ireland.

We can also offer teaching tips and material if requested, so that anyone who has participated in the Get Growing course is then in a position to replicate it and pass the knowledge they have gained along to their communities

The course format is adaptable. We have taught it as an intensive residential and non-residential weekend, and as an extensive 8-week course. In response to specific requests, we can also offer shorter workshops on particular aspects of the organic growing process.

Reviving the basic knowledge of how to grow our own food not only makes us more self-reliant, but in the process we witness a marvel of life, reconnecting in a tangible way to the nourishing, caring power of Nature.
